I visited the same cafe over three days to complete this work. Early in the morning, the staff start setting up chairs and tables in the Abbey churchyard. A brief moment of quietness is soon followed by a bustling crowd of tourists keen to visit the iconic Abbey and the Roman Baths. From afar, the grandeur of the Abbey makes one pause in admiration. Up close, its intricate details incite awe and astonishment. This drawing captures the moment at which the churchyard quiets down in the afternoon, as cafe workers start to close up for the day.

I was on a coach when I first saw Northampton through a window. I later visited the city three times over a 10-day period to complete this artwork. The unnamed square near All Saints' Church, Northampton, contains vibrant snippets of everyday life. Businessmen sit down for a sip of coffee, delivery drivers wait around for new orders, workers call their families, children watch the pigeons, and locals stop by to take a break from their busy lives. This small yet buzzing square is full of life.
