Printmaking can lend its self to exploring surfaces and layers and this image is based partly on reality, and partly imagined. The location is a repurposed railway station in Germany. The history of the building is a troubled one with its new purpose being an art gallery. Much of the artwork within the galleries is complex and compels the viewer to think about society; but the new growth or development signified in part by my choice of an abundant plant in the foreground layer, is one that that could indicate hope if we could navigate our way through and appreciate difference.

MONOPRINTING
h: 26 w: 17 d: 1 (cms).
Printmaking can lend its self to exploring surfaces and layers and subsequently adding meaning. The building in the composition was originally a villa in a northern seaside town. Overtime it fell into disarray, but it is now a clinic with a gardening team tending new shrubs, but also encouraging biodiversity and allowing a whole variety of plants to take root and develop. It is the plants that captured my attention, and they will alter with each season : in a regeneration.
